What is Giftly?
Giftly is an online gifting service. Use Giftly to send a monetary gift with a suggestion of how to spend it. It's like a gift card but more flexible, or cash but more thoughtful and convenient.
How does Giftly work?
Buy a gift by selecting an amount and suggesting where the recipient should go to spend it and what they should get. For instance, "$25 for a Movie at Any Theater" or "$100 for Dinner at Park Tavern."
Gifts are delivered online or by mail, in a personalized greeting card. After the recipient opens the gift, they choose how to receive the funds.
Funds can be delivered as a deposit to a checking account, as a payment to PayPal or on a Visa gift card.
We'll prompt the recipient to send a thank you card sharing how they used the funds.
What is the advantage of sending a gift through Giftly compared to sending a traditional gift card or a money transfer?
Purchasing a gift on Giftly is fast and convenient, especially if you are buying a gift for someone who lives out of town. Giftly is a great way to send monetary gifts and suggest merchants that either do not offer their own gift cards or are located too far away for you to visit in person.
Each gift sent through Giftly is packaged in a personalized greeting card that you design. Recommend a specific merchant (e.g., "Anna's Taqueria") or category (e.g., "Any Restaurant") and suggest how the recipient use the gift. Giftly can be more convenient than a cash transfer or a traditional store gift card because the recipient gets to choose how they would like to receive the gifted money.
Giftly recipients have told us that the redemption process is easy and they love having the flexibility to spend their gift money however they want, which they don't get with a store gift card. The value of a Giftly never expires so you can be sure it gets put to good use.
Does Giftly work internationally?
While you can buy and redeem gifts for use at merchants across the world, to purchase a gift you must be a U.S. citizen or legal alien residing in one of the fifty (50) states, the District of Columbia or Puerto Rico. To redeem a gift, the recipient will need either a U.S. issued debit/credit card or checking account, a U.S. mailing address or a PayPal account.
Currently PayPal is the only way to send Giftly funds to non-U.S. recipients. PayPal allows the recipient to receive their monetary gift in their local currency even though it was purchased in USD. PayPal can be used directly as payment for online or in-store purchases at many merchants, or after receiving funds to PayPal the recipient can withdraw to his/her bank account or receive a paper check.
If a recipient can't redeem a gift, we will send you a refund as long as the refund is requested within 90 days of purchase.
Is the gift available for spending immediately after purchase?
Giftly funds are not immediately available for spending. There is a short amount of time required for the recipient to receive the gifted funds after requesting redemption. Redemption times range from one or two business days to upwards of a week depending on the method that is chosen.
Why can't the printable gift be presented directly to the merchant?
Giftly funds are not restricted to a particular merchant. The selected merchant is just a suggestion for where the gift should be spent. Recipients will receive the funds associated with a gift in a manner they choose and they can then go spend those funds at the merchant.
The Giftly printout contains instructions for how the recipient is to receive the monetary gift that was given to them. After receiving the funds, the recipient can spend them at the suggested merchant or choose to spend them somewhere else.
Why don't you automatically mail a Visa Gift Card to the recipient if I select mail delivery at purchase?
The intention is that the recipient gets to choose how to receive the funds that were given to them. Some people want to receive a Visa Gift Card, but many people find it more convenient to receive the funds electronically.
Most recipients find this to be a convenient way to receive a gift and appreciate the flexibility of the redemption process. If you select mail delivery at purchase, the recipient will receive a Giftly greeting card containing an activation code that they will enter on the website and they will then be able to choose how to receive the gifted funds.
Does the recipient of my gift need a smartphone or a computer?
Your recipient will need to visit www.giftly.com in order to receive their gifted funds, either using a smartphone or a computer.
Can I send a gift anonymously?
Yes. When you send a gift, you'll need to enter a name to tell the recipient who the gift is from, but you can use an anonymous name like 'Santa' or 'Your secret admirer'. This will, for the most part, make the gift anonymous.
Can the recipient of a gift use the funds to make an in-store purchase?
The recipient can't bring the Giftly Gift Card email, printout, or greeting card itself into the store to exchange for a purchase. The recipient must redeem the gift online and receive the gifted funds. There is an online redemption step for the recipient to choose how to receive the funds that were given to them. Once the recipient has received the funds, they are free to spend them when and where they choose and can receive a Giftly Visa Gift Card to use in-store.
Do gifts expire?
No, gifts sent through Giftly do not expire.
Why is there a service fee?
A nominal service fee is charged to the gifter at purchase to cover bank processing fees and redemption costs.
The costs incurred by Giftly increase as the dollar value of the gift increases, and that is reflected in the purchase fee structure on our website.
If mail delivery is selected at purchase, we print and ship a custom greeting card designed by the gifter. All costs of printing, fulfillment and postage for this card are covered by the additional service fee.
The advantage of Giftly is that the recipient gets to choose the way to receive the gifted funds that is most convenient for them. Recipients will not be charged any additional fees to redeem their gift.
Can gifts being delivered by mail be grouped to save on postage?
Unfortunately, we can't do that at this time.
What's the Giftly Guarantee?
If you or the recipient are not completely satisfied, we'll refund the full value of your gift within 90 days of purchase, as long as it hasn't been redeemed (minus shipping and handling costs for gifts that are sent by mail).
How do I call Giftly?
We recommend email for faster support service, however, you may leave us a voicemail at 800-566-9669 and we will get back to you. When leaving a voicemail, please be sure to include the email address or Order Number associated with your gift.
However, you can change, modify, and cancel gifts yourself through this Support Center's self-help tools. You can also resend, request replacements, track redemptions, and more. We recommend trying that first so your issue is resolved as quickly as possible.
